The Injury Free Coalition for Kids is among the country's fastest growing and most effective injury prevention programs. We are a National Program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation comprised of hospital-based, community-oriented programs, whose efforts are anchored in research, education, and advocacy. Currently, the coalition includes 40 sites located in 37 cities, each housed in the trauma centers of their participating institutions.

Being notified that your child has been transported by Trauma One in “life threatening condition" is a traumatic experience. We three mom's all shared this experience when our teens were all critically injured within 6 months of each other. After meeting while going through the recovery process, we began talking about our experiences. We recognized a need for toiletry and other important items to get to parents right away.

We began collecting personal essentials to fill hand decorated tote bags and then donated them to Shands Jacksonville's Trauma Center. These totes provide parents the basic yet necessary items they need those first critical days and nights. The response from both the hospital and parents who have received a tote bag have been heartwarming. They are provided out of compassion and empathy. It reflects our experience and desire to help others through this very difficult time.
